On 20 Oct., 45 years ago, the USCGC Cuyahoga collided with another vessel 3 miles from Smith Point, Virginia, resulting in the loss of 11 Coast Guard Crew Members. With the support of Smith Point Sea Rescue we conducted a ceremony at the site of the collision. The owner of Britt's Garden kindly provided a beautiful wreath with 11 red carnations to honor each of those who lost their lives and this wreath was placed over the side. As it turns out the owner who made us the wreath, found out her grandfather, Ray Rogers, served on the Cuyahoga in WW2 and we had 3 family members join us.

As it turns out, the owner of Britt’s Gardens Grandfather served on the Cuyahoga in WW2 and 3 family members attended the wreath-laying ceremony.

Beautiful arrangements! They lasted for over a week when following instructions on changing water and adding flower food. We have just highly recommended them to our sister. The arrangements we have gotten from Britts Garden have been so lovely and have lasted over a week longer than those we have received from online florists. We are so happy to have a florist of this quality in our area.

We requested a flower arrangement to be sent to our Mother who is out of state for her 80th birthday as we were not able to be with her due to COVID.
